Halong Bay - one of Vietnam’s two UNESCO natural world heritage sites - had by May 25 risen to the first place in Group G in the voting for the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The bay, twice recognised by the UNESCO for its landscapes and geological values, surpassed Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar Beach to lead the 25-entry group, which includes sea landscapes and beaches.

Khe Ga lighthouse

Khe Ga Lighthouse was built on top of the Khe Ga Island, which has an area of 05ha in size and lies offshore Tan Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam District, about 30 km southeast of Phan Thiet city. It was designed by a French engineer for the purpose of navigating ships. It was first started in 1897 and completed in 1898. To make a token of time, a big slab of granite stone was put at the entrance to the lighthouse engraved with the number 1899. The lighthouse officially came into being in 1900.

Vietnam has sent its artists to the 51st Tong Tong Festival that opened in the Hague, the Netherlands, on May 21. A troupe from the Vietnam National Music, Dance and Song Theatre gave two performances on the opening day of the festival.
